Vocational Evaluation


A comprehensive, intradisciplinary process of evaluating an individual's physical, mental, and emotional abilities and limitations in order to identify appropriate outcomes. Vocational evaluations are requested by attorneys and insurance carriers with respect to an individual's employability, earning capacity, worklife expectancy, and labor market access pre-injury vs. post-injury in order to provide information for the settlement process in the event of a functional disability. Vocational evaluations are also requested by organizations such as the Kentucky Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Veteran's Administration in order to identify an individual's aptitudes, interests, academic achievement, manual dexterity, intelligence, and temperaments. These facts are then considered within the parameters of the individual's disability(ies) in order to recommend appropriate occupational options with and without additional training, identify the need for additional services, and suggest accommodations that would allow for enhanced independence and productivity.

Functional Capacity Evaluation


A series of dynamic physical tests designed to determine an individual's physical abilities and tolerances for the purpose of identifying and planning with regard to safe return to work goals, job search, and/or the need for additional services to enhance the individual's level of functioning and independence. FCEs also provide valuable information used to answer specific questions from physicians, insurance carriers, and attorneys with respect to the validity of an injury or reported dysfunction, as well as to assist in the determination that an injured individual has reached maximum medical improvement and in preparation for settlement.

Medical Case Management


Services provided to individuals to assist them with navigating the healthcare system, coordinating care with physicians and other treating professionals, act as liaison for insurance carriers, recommend preventative care and community resources, an educate patients and families so they may make informed decisions and take an active part in their rehabilitation.

Medical Chart Audits


Quality control services provided to ensure that best practices are being adhered to with respect to an individual's medical care, or to recommend appropriate changes to enhance outcome(s).

Medical Bill Reviews


Provides verification that services have been rendered as prescribed and correctly billed.

Life Care Planning


An in-depth analysis yielding a dynamic document, based upon published standards of practice, comprehensive assessment, data analysis and research, which provides an organized, concise plan for current and future needs with associated costs, for individuals who have experienced catastrophic injury or have chronic health care needs. Life Care Plans are requested to identify the needs and costs associated with an individual's required long term care subsequent severe injury or illness and are utilized in managed care, workers' compensation, civil litigation, mediation, reserve setting for insurance companies, and special needs trust administration.

Job Analysis


A systematic study of a specific job in terms of the worker's relationship to data, people, and things (worker functions); the methodologies and techniques employed (worker fields); the machines, tools, equipment, and work aids used; the materials, products, subject matter, or services which result; and the worker attributes that contribute to successful job performance (worker characteristics). Job analyses are used in the recruitment and placement of workers, improving utilization of workers, job restructuring, vocational counseling, training, performance evaluations, and occupational safety.

Labor Market Surveys


Assessment of the availability of jobs for which a given individual would qualify and have access based upon the incidence of those jobs in local, regional, and national economies and a forecast of expected growth or decline for that industry.

Occupational Therapy Evaluations


A comprehensive assessment of the functional skills and limitations which impact an individual's ability to complete daily life tasks. Evaluation includes upper extremity assessment of motor and sensory function; cognitive and perceptual skills; mobility skills; and the overall ability to perform daily life tasks, such as dressing, bathing, and self-feeding; home management tasks, such as cooking and cleaning; community living skills, such as shopping and money management; and other activities of daily routine. Occupational Therapy assessments are requested by physicians, attorneys, Vocational Rehabilitation counselors, case managers, or any other professional interested in the client's present level of function and/or the client's ability to return to a prior level of function. The client's present level of function will be concluded, as well as deficits which impact performance, and appropriate recommendations will be made to enhance the client's independence for overall productive living in a multitude of environments.

Home Assessment with Modification Recommendations


A comprehensive assessment of the home environment with respect to identifying physical barriers to independent living. Such barriers may include the physical layout or arrangement of living space, work surfaces heights, accessibility of needed equipment and supplies, mobility barriers, and safety impediments. Appropriate recommendations are made for remediation so that barriers are eliminated for increased independence within the home environment.
